Thomas White, Vicar of St. Dunstan in the West, left provisions in his will for the founding of Sion College and an almshouse in   Sion College Library was founded in the early 17th century for the benefit of the clergy of the City of London.

The collections have been greatly enriched over the years by numerous donations and bequests, and strongly reflect the wide community of citizens who supported the Library – from nobility, surgeons and attorneys to merchants, stationers and clergymen.
